Are you planning a trip to Italy and only have one day to explore the Amalfi Coast? You’ve come to the right place! In this article, I’ll share a list of must-see spots on the Amalfi Coast in just one day. While it’s impossible to see everything in a single day, you’ll definitely want to visit the most beautiful towns like Positano and Amalfi. I was lucky enough to live in this stunning region for four months, and I’m excited to share my personal experience with you.

Top Places to Visit on the Amalfi Coast in One Day

I have to say that one day on the Amalfi Coast won’t be enough to see it all, but it’s definitely worth it. Below, I’m sharing an itinerary with the must-see spots along the Amalfi Coast. If you have more time to explore, check out our guides for the Amalfi Coast in 2 days and the Amalfi Coast in 3 days, as well as our tips for traveling the Amalfi Coast.

Most visitors stay in Sorrento, Amalfi, or Positano, but I highly recommend staying in Salerno when visiting the Amalfi Coast. It’s just a 40-minute train ride from Naples. There are two great ways to explore the coast from Salerno: driving along the coastal road or taking a ferry/boat to visit secluded beaches.

How to Get Around the Amalfi Coast in One Day

When you’re in Salerno, you have several options to explore the Amalfi Coast. You can rent a car or a scooter if you prefer to drive, or take the ferry and buses if you want to avoid dealing with the challenging roads and finding parking. I recommend purchasing a ticket that allows you to use both the ferry and buses for the whole day for about 15 EUR. This will let you take a round-trip ferry ride from Salerno to Positano, or take the ferry one way and return by bus, stopping in the villages you want to visit along the way. You can buy the ticket at the SITA sales point.

Taking the ferry from Salerno to Positano is a great way to enjoy stunning coastal views from the sea. The ferry will also stop in Amalfi and other coastal towns, offering a unique scenic experience. Additionally, during peak season, the ferry is one of the fastest ways to get from Salerno to Positano, making it an excellent choice if you want to explore the Amalfi Coast in just one day.

If you’re short on time, you might also consider a guided boat tour along the coast, like this one.

Positano: The Most Beautiful Town to Visit on the Amalfi Coast in One Day

The ferry will drop you off at Positano’s famous beach with these stunning views.

What to See in Positano in 1 Day?

If you don’t mind walking a bit, I recommend taking a scenic stroll up to the top of Positano and then heading back down to the bus stop. It won’t take more than two hours and gives you a chance to see different parts of the town. I wouldn’t suggest spending too much time on Positano’s beach—trust me, I have a better recommendation for the next part of your trip (and you won’t have to pay for a beach spot!).

Positano is filled with charming cafés, bars, restaurants, and souvenir shops where you can take a break, enjoy a coffee (a favorite Italian pastime), grab a bite to eat, or pick up something nice to remember your trip. It’s a small town, so if you skip the beach, there isn’t much else to do—but that’s all the more reason to keep exploring!

In Positano, there are two SITA bus stops, and you can continue your journey from either one. Buses typically run every 30 minutes to an hour, but don’t be surprised if they’re delayed—especially in summer. Travel times between stops can also be longer than expected due to traffic.

Fiordo di Furore: The Most Beautiful Beach on the Amalfi Coast

To get to Fiordo di Furore, you can take the SITA bus from Positano towards Amalfi and get off at the Fiordo di Furore stop. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes, but depending on the season and traffic, it may take a bit longer.

This is one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen, but there are no shops or restaurants on the beach. It’s best to either grab a bite in Positano before heading over or bring your own food and water with you.

To get to Amalfi from Fiordo di Furore, simply hop on the same SITA bus at the stop where you got off earlier. It’s just a 30-minute ride to the town of Amalfi, where you can take a leisurely stroll, enjoy some gelato, and, if you’re not too tired, take a quick 1-km walk to Atrani—the smallest village on the Amalfi Coast and in all of Italy.

Atrani: The Smallest Village to Visit on the Amalfi Coast

Atrani is a tiny, tiny village—you can pretty much see it all in the photo below 😅. But it’s definitely worth a visit! It won’t take up much of your time unless you decide to spend a little while on the beach.

To get from Atrani to Salerno, you can take a SITA bus, and it should take no more than an hour.

You can check all ferry and bus schedules on the official SITA SUD website or Google Maps—works great!

De Atrani a Salerno puedes tomar un autobús SITA, no debería durar más que 1 hora.

What to See on the Amalfi Coast in One Day?

I hope this guide has been helpful, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy your one-day trip on the Amalfi Coast—hopefully, more than just one day! It’s such a beautiful place, and you’ll definitely want to explore more of the Amalfi Coast’s charming towns. I know visiting all these spots in one day might sound like a lot, but don’t worry: the towns are small, and I’ve done this route twice myself, once in September and once in October. I can assure you that one day is enough if you leave Salerno early (around 8-9 a.m.). However, during peak season (June-August), there can be more traffic, making it a bit harder to see all these Amalfi Coast towns in one day.
