Top 10 Must-Visit Spots in Bohol

MAG ASO Falls

MAG ASO Falls

Our first stop in Bohol was the MAG ASO Falls—a unique spot that’s a bit challenging to reach. We noticed a sign saying the falls were closed to visitors, but we decided to go ahead anyway. The area was empty, with only one motorbike in the parking lot, no ticket collectors, and a somewhat neglected path with fallen branches that you’ll need to duck under or climb over, so it’s not ideal for young children. However, we highly recommend MAG ASO Falls for the adventure and stunning, crowd-free photo opportunities.

Chocolate Hills, the Most Beautiful Place to See in Bohol

Chocolate Hills

After visiting the falls, we headed to one of the most famous spots in the Philippines—the Chocolate Hills. These stunning hills were naturally formed, and during the dry season, the tops turn brown, giving them their name. Here’s the exact location so you can get the best views and photos of the Chocolate Hills. Be cautious using Google Maps here, as it led us off course a few times. You can’t drive directly to the viewing point; instead, park your motorbike and take a shuttle bus to reach the viewpoint. This can take some time, especially during peak tourist hours, so plan accordingly. At the top, you’ll find a café where you can grab a quick bite before continuing your Bohol adventure.

Man Made Forest

On our way back from the Chocolate Hills, we wanted to visit the Tarsier Sanctuary in Corella, Bohol, which meant passing through the unique Man-Made Forest. This forest stretches along a scenic road rather than being a typical tourist attraction with designated visiting hours. Driving through it is a unique experience with towering mahogany trees on either side of the road. Many people stop in the middle of the street to take photos, but we don’t recommend it as it can be quite dangerous. This road is active with buses, motorbikes, and tuk-tuks passing frequently, making it unsafe to take photos in the middle, especially in tourist-heavy areas.

Loboc River

Loboc River

Unfortunately, since we visited during Holy Week, the Tarsier Sanctuary was already closed that day. So, our next stop was Loboc River in Bohol. This river has crystal-clear waters—truly a stunning shade we hadn’t seen before. The most popular attraction here is the floating restaurant, where you can enjoy a meal while cruising down the river. Some tours even stop at local communities, giving you a chance to experience Filipino culture and lifestyle. You can book a Loboc River tour in advance or decide when you’re already in Bohol. We chose not to take the tour and instead enjoyed the beautiful views of the Loboc River from the shore.

Tarsier, the Cute Animal You Have to See in Bohol

Tarsier Bohol
Tarsier

The Tarsier Sanctuary is a must-see attraction in Bohol. While this tiny creature may look a bit unusual in photos, it’s one of the cutest things we saw in the Philippines. Despite initially calling it “the ugly bug,” we ended up falling in love with it. Be sure to check the Tarsier Sanctuary’s visiting hours before planning your trip—don’t leave Bohol without seeing this adorable little animal in person!

Pahangog Falls

Pahangog Falls

The Pahangog Waterfalls were the most beautiful and impressive waterfalls I’ve ever seen. However, the journey was quite difficult, and it took us much longer to reach there than what Google Maps suggested. At first, there was no proper road, so we had to navigate rocky paths. Once we reached the entrance to the waterfalls, it turned out to be a long and steep climb. Descending was easy, but on the way up, we had to take a few breaks 😅. Despite the effort, if you love waterfalls, it’s definitely worth it. Just keep in mind that it will likely take twice as long as Google Maps suggests.

Alona Beach, the Most Beautiful Beach in Bohol

Alona Beach, Panglao
Alona Beach

This is the most beautiful beach in Bohol it has vast stretch of white sand and crystal-clear waters. While we loved it, we couldn’t enjoy it for long. As I mentioned earlier, our plans took longer than expected, and we knew we had plenty of beach days ahead in El Nido and Coron, so swimming in the sea wasn’t our top priority. Alona Beach is also a great spot for nightlife, with many bars and restaurants in the area. Many recommend staying near Alona Beach for convenience. However, in retrospect, we would have preferred a place closer to the port or in the town of Loboc. Why? Simply because we were far from almost all the attractions we wanted to visit. If you have at least three full days and want to enjoy the beach, Alona Beach is a good place to stay.

CAMUGAO Falls

Bohol is an island filled with beautiful waterfalls. If you enjoy exploring natural landscapes, you’ll love discovering them. The Camugao Falls are stunning waterfalls located near the Mag-Aso Falls. You can easily plan your visit to Bohol to explore both on the same day. Don’t miss out on experiencing the breathtaking natural beauty of Bohol!

Hinagdanan Cave in Bohol, Philippines, is known for its unique rock formations and its freshwater pool. The natural lighting creates a magical atmosphere. You can swim and enjoy the serene environment inside the cave. Before you visit, make sure to check the opening hours and book your tour of Hinagdanan Cave in Bohol for a smooth experience.

Pangas Falls

To complete the list, another waterfall worth visiting in Bohol is Pangas Falls. Bohol is a paradise for waterfall lovers, but I’m sure you already knew that.
